This path is also supplied during system start-up. In the event that the inverter cannot provide power to the critical load, the UPS CHARGER (which is built into the UPS) provides power to the critical load.<\/p>\n<p>The UPS CHARGER is equipped with an internal static bypass line that routes power to the critical load when the inverter cannot provide power. In addition, the CHARGER can be connected to a static transfer switch, which is used to connect the critical load directly to the bypass line when the UPS cannot provide power.<\/p>\n<p>The CHARGER also contains equipment to regulate DC power. These controls are used to maintain the power output of the UPS and to compensate for any DC power losses during operation. The CHARGER is connected to the critical load during maintenance or when a power failure occurs.<\/p>\n<p>The internal static bypass line is supplied by the 52C output UPS module. When the UPS is in Parallel Operation, the power drawn by the critical load is shared among the UPS. When the UPS is in Test Mode, the Equalize Charge battery function boosts the charge voltage for a specified time.<\/p>\n<p>A battery disconnect circuit breaker can be used to switch the UPS inverter off. The battery disconnect circuit breaker can be opened manually, or by activating a remote EPO contact input. If a battery disconnect circuit breaker is open, the UPS converter will automatically stop operating.<\/p>\n<p>If a total UPS shutdown is desired, the critical load must be disconnected from the UPS. The UPS nameplate will illuminate.
